No financial gain or loss-avoidance is worth compromising Portfolio Effect LLC's reputation for honesty and integrity.  The founders would rather be on the street with a resume and a clear conscience than have a corner office in a posh high rise and a guilty conscience. 

Sound Economics
We set a high bar for investment decisions and hold ourselves to it; painful though such decisions can be when such good people are looking to us for help. We don't over-extend ourselves, it is just policy. We also pay our bills on time.

Life/Work Balance
Work is only part of one's life. One needs to have a group of people with whom one shares successes and failures, ups and downs. In our case, we both have wives and children who we love dearly. We do our best to keep our work and family lives in a delicate balance and we try to encourage our colleagues and business partners to do the same.
 

Serving Entrepreneurs
We help people with ideas and courage become entrepreneurs with strong teams, sound business plans, and seed funding.  This ethic of service extends far beyond writing checks, it can include other forms of support and access to our combined years of experience in starting and working in companies of various types and sizes.
 

Fun & Humor
Having fun and a good sense of humor is critical to maintenance of sanity while working in the high pressure environment of building companies.  Besides, any day that passes without humor is a day lost.
